Community Relations

Greenline

TANK is committed to forming partnerships with the diverse members of Northern Kentucky community. Active associations with the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Cincinnati Incorporated, the OKI Regional Council of Governments, the Northern Kentucky Labor Management Council, Southbank Partners and countless neighborhood groups have strengthened our community bonds.

In 2000, TANK became a member of the national Safe Place program. All Supervisors are trained volunteers, able to assist any youth in crisis that needs to utilize the Safe Place program. Every TANK vehicle displays the Safe Place logo prominently.

Two years later, TANK proudly introduced Artistry in Motion at the Covington Transit Center. A team of artists turned the Covington Transit Center, into a stunning piece of artwork. Federal guidelines require TANK to spend one percent of federal funds on transit enhancement projects. As a result, our Artistry in Motion has created an appealing and creative space for the entire community to enjoy. Artistry in Motion's main theme is one of evolution - the glorious changing of seasons plus the progress of transit from the early carriage rides to today's bus system to tomorrow's light rail.

Another example of TANK's commitment to our history in this community is the renovation and restoration of Bus #209, a 1950 model GMC bus that operated in Northern Kentucky at the end of the rail car era. Bus #209 was discovered in Seattle, WA in April 2001, owned by a former bus operator for King County Metro. It was brought home to TANK to be restored to its' former glory. TANK's Maintenance department did all the work associated with this magnificent restoration. Bus #209 is available for promotional and historic events in the community. It will join two other historic vehicles that have also been refurbished by TANK Maintenance employees: a 1975 AM General (the bus that ushered out #209) and the Kentucky Streetcar (which was replaced by #209).

TANK is committed to strengthening Northern Kentucky. Our passengers and employees live and work in this community so enhancing the quality of life in this region is part of what we do every day. Whether it is disaster assistance, school field trips or neighborhood festivals TANK is always willing to participate. Strong involvement with our passengers and the communities in which they live is key to a successful transit authority.
